What did we do?

Today in class we worked on our paragraph booklets or if your like me you finished any of the sheets that go with your report card.

Why did we do it? (Learning Intentions)

Well the whole point of our paragraph booklets is number one teach us how to write a proper paragraph, like how a paragraph should be 5-9 sentences. Two is to generally help improve our writing and make it more clear and easy to read. The point of the self-assessment sheets are for you to reflect on how you did in term one. Also on what you learned in term one.

Reflections and Connections

Learning how to write a paragraph is one of the fundamentals of writing. If you learn how to write a paragraph you can move on to more advanced things like writing essays. If you don't know how to write a proper paragraph writing is going to be hard and will probably be bad. In university and in other post-secondary schools if you don't know how to write a paragraph your at a major disadvantage. Even in jobs if you don't know how to write a paragraph for say a report, it's going to be bad. Self assessing is key in order to help recover from say you lost a game. You figure out what you did wrong and don't do it next time.

Homework Reminders

- The Descriptive paragraph portion of your paragraph booklets are due tomorrow
- You are supposed to make two comments on on other people in your blogs posts
- Learning Blogs if you have Tuesday

IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE THESE YET, DO THEM:
- Lit circle group discussion and goals/reflections ( 2 stars and 2 wishes) both for individual and your group

Homework Tips

Try and make your comments very descriptive and unique, don't repeat things others have already commented on. Use any feedback you have received on your learning blogs before and apply it now.

  1. Nice post, Evan I really enjoyed reading that and I like they vocabulary you used. You connected beyond Humanities and met criteria. Maybe next time you could maybe use lesser periods and use more conjunctions. Overall it was a nice to read.

  2. Hi Evan,
I am noticing improvement in the details you are giving for your learning blog posts. Some areas could still use improvement; Bill had some good suggestions regarding using transition words and conjunctions to help with connecting ideas. Otherwise, if they are not related, then perhaps they would need to be in a different paragraph. Continue to work on your formal writing tone - I see that you are still having some trouble with the conversational tone. Overall, improvement is noticed. Keep up the good work.
